Data Conversion:

You need to convert the data files ONLY IF your analysis program is unable to read them. The structure of the data files created by the NSLS_DAC program is different from that created by the earlier program EDC. The new program NSLS_DAC allows upto 3 header/comment lines where information about the experimental conditions can be saved. To benefit from the new program as well as to save time, you should change your data analysis software so that it can read the NSLS_DAC data files. If this is not possible you can convert the data files into the old EDC format using the program NSLS_X11. Please note that during conversion some information is lost. An EDC file allows only one header/comment line; hence the first of the 3 header lines of an NDAC file is saved. Thus you should always save the original NDAC data files even if you don't plan to use them.

NSLS_X11 program is fast and easy to use. It converts all the data files present in a folder. The conversion program changes the name of a data file such that a "c" is added to the name; e.g. A filename CUFOIL.001 will change to CUFOILC.001 upon conversion. Please follow these instructions to run the program:

(1) Create a folder indicative of your name in the X11A Analysis computer. e.g. X11A Analysis: UserX11A : Yourname.

(2) Create a folder which will store the converted data e.g. X11A Analysis: UserX11A : Yourname: Converted Data

(3) Copy the folder containing your data files from the X11-HD computer to the X11A Analysis computer. e.g. copy the folder X-11 HD: Users: Yourname: 98/01 Yourname Data files to the X11A Analysis: UserX11A: Yourname: 98/01 Yourname Data files.

Launch the NSLS_X11 program located in the X11A Analysis: Application: NDAC_X11 folder. Click on the READ FILES button. The program inquires about (i) the folder containing the data files to be converted e.g. X11A Analysis: UserX11A: Yourname: 98/01 Yourname Data files, and (ii) the folder which will store the converted data files. e.g. X11A Analysis: UserX11A : Yourname: Converted Data

The converted files are in the X11A Analysis: UserX11A : Yourname: Converted Data folder.
