Safety Forms, NSLS Policies & Information

All Safety Forms must be submitted electronically through the NSLS web site.

This site allows you to submit, alter, and review your safety forms. To pull up an existing form you need to know the ID number (assigned by the system) for that form, or you can search the database using your name and birthdate.

MSDS Forms
The Light Source requires that experimentors have a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) on hand for all chemicals they bring to the Lab - the following link is an excellent site to search for an MSDS.

Beam Line Computers

 Introduction:

Beamline X11A uses two 7500/100 Power Macintosh computers for data acquisition (X-11 HD) and analysis (X11A Analysis), respectively. The X11-HD computer is primarily reserved for the data acquisition software NSLS_DAC [1]. The X11A Analysis computer contains a variety of applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, FETCH, VersaTerm, Netscape, and MacXAFS. The data analysis (IDA), data conversion (NSLS_X11) and data transfer (FETCH) programs are available on both the computers.

The computers and a laser printer are connected such that (i) a single laser printer (X11 LaserWriter) serves both the computers, and (ii) the X11A Analysis computer has an access to the USERS folder in the X-11 HD computer. Thus data acquisition and data analysis can be done simultaneously. For file protection purpose the access to the USERS folder is limited to read only. Hence to analyze/modify the data (e.g. convert the data into the old X11A format) you must copy them onto the X11A Analysis computer. You can use the existing USERX11A folder in the X11A Analysis computer for this purpose.
